The Hun Upper School is a dynamic and supportive community that inspires scholarship and student involvement on so many levels.
For over 100 years, we have embraced the mission of John Gale Hun by focusing maximum attention on students' individual needs. We carry forth this tradition of excellence with an emphasis on preparing Hun School graduates for a world of constant change.
Traditional courses might take place around a Harkness table or among a sea of iPads. Or, a student can produce his own episode of CSI in collaboration with his media arts, theatre, and forensic science teachers. Lessons are dynamic, innovative, personal, and un-prescribed.
At Hun, it’s not only the adults who teach, even though we have great teachers. Our students are frequently inspired by one another. Peer groups are powerful influences. Therefore we often facilitate learning among students, and guide them to their own understanding.
If you're looking for a unique learning environment for your high schooler where they will be encouraged to ask questions, challenge their views and build confidence that will last a lifetime, The Hun School — located in Princeton, NJ — may be just what your student needs. Our unique approach to learning offers many benefits over traditional high school education, including:
At the Hun Upper School, you'll find enriching academic opportunities that are as fun as they are educational. Beyond classes in a traditional classroom setting, we also offer unique programs ranging from world-famous class speakers, an experiential ‘mini-mester’, travel courses, leadership and culture programming. Students will get real-world experience with hands-on learning opportunities. They can also choose to explore their interests through a concentrated field of focus, called a Scholars Track.
Throughout their high school journey, students will be challenged and encouraged by teachers and faculty who take the time to get to know them personally. Your student will get the help they need to succeed under the guidance of a community of staff members, mentors and peers.
All Hun School courses are taught using a skills-based curriculum that develops widely-applicable skills. Rather than simply conveying content, our teachers focus on the skills necessary in order for our student to be creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and dynamic collaborators.

Hun's Unique College Counseling Opportunities
Ultimately, our goal is to prepare high school students for the rigors of college life. Our dedicated college counselors are on hand to provide students with valuable insights into their ideal post-grad options. Faculty takes time to get to know students over their high school years to offer personalized advice about the best future options for each student.
We're fortunate to work with many college admission representatives to stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge and opportunities in college admissions. More than 100 college and university representatives visit Hun each fall, giving students the opportunity to ask questions and become more familiar with the admissions process.
