Credit Course Application Process

There are five steps to apply for enrollment in a for-credit course:

  1. Select your course and review the syllabus
  2. Start and complete the online application
  3. Discuss the Summer Session course with your child’s guidance counselor or current subject area teacher
  4. If your school requires it, submit your course permission request prior to your school’s deadline(s)
  5. Ask your child’s current teacher or guidance counselor to complete the Credit Course Permission Form to verify your child’s academic capabilities

Honors students only: To be accepted into an honors credit course, the student must to have an 80 average in a current honors course, or a 93 in a regular math course.  Please email the student’s current transcript for either course, with the name of the student in the subject line, to summer@hunschool.org.

You will not be able to register for a class that is full. If the class for which you'd like to register is full, please email summer@hunschool.org.

Additional Enrollment Requirements

Once your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation that the application was received and is being reviewed. Communication from our Summer Programs Office will follow. Acceptance into a for-credit class is based on the applicants and qualifications and whether or not they have submitted all of the necessary paperwork.  If you have any questions, please contact us at summer@hunschool.org

Once admitted, students are required to upload a current health and immunization record.

Please note: Any student applying for an honors course will be given a placement exam on the first day of class. If a student does not have a teacher recommendation, a report card or transcript showing a grade of 93% or higher in a relevant subject area, and does not pass the placement exam, he or she will be placed in the standard credit course.

Summer Session International Student Application Process

All international students will be tested on their English comprehension and speaking ability upon arrival. If a student does not demonstrate the necessary language skill, he or she will be placed in an appropriate American Culture and Language Institute (ACLI) track.

International students are expected to arrange for their own housing. Please email the Summer Programs staff for recommendations at summer@hunschool.org

Walk-in Registrations

Between July 12th - July 18th applications can be submitted in person at The Hun School. Walk-in registration is generally available between 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on weekdays. Or, you can schedule a registration by emailing summer@hunschool.org

Refunds, cancellations, and charges

The Summer Programs staff makes every effort to be flexible and accommodating regarding selections. Commitments to faculty, staff, facilities, and other students are made in advance of the summer. Please note, canceling after June 1st will result in a forfeiture of the entire tuition and all deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations and refund requests must be submitted in writing prior to June 1st. No refunds will be given after June 1st. Tuition cannot be applied to another summer program or camp, to next year’s Summer School or camp, to a sibling in a program, or to future Hun School tuition.

No refunds or deductions in tuition will be made for late arrival, early dismissal, vacation, illness, withdraw, or injury. Changes and additions after June 1st and during enrolled weeks are based upon availability and are subject to a $50 processing fee.

Required paperwork

All students are required to upload the following documents into their online account prior to enrollment:

  1. Immunization Record
  2. Any health-related action plans, including for asthma or allergies

Payment Options

Applicants may pay in full at the point of enrollment or in installments. Should you select the latter, The Hun School will charge the credit card on file on a predetermined schedule. All payments are due by June 1st, and any registration made after that date will require payment in full.

Please keep in mind:

  • There is a non-refundable $125 deposit per course
  • Changes after June 1st are subject to availability and a $50 processing fee
