Endowment Gift Donor Spotlight: Aidekman Family Fund for Student Leadership
The Aidekman Family Fund for Student Leadership was established in 2010 with a generous gift to Hun’s endowment by Gary and Susan Aidekman and their daughters, Dana ’08 and Alix ’10. The family has continued to support the fund with additional gifts. Permanent endowed funds, established by alumni and parents, are the backbone of Hun’s endowment. By investing these gifts, Hun is able to spend a percentage of the value of the Aidekman Fund, guaranteeing yearly support for leadership programming at Hun.
Hun’s annual Proctors’ Retreat, a component of the Residential Life program, is an example of the quality programming supported by endowed funds. The Aidekmans were pleased to support the growth of the proctor program as they have fond memories of the leadership opportunities it provided Dana and Alix, both of whom served as proctors at Hun.
The proctor program continues to flourish under the Director of Residential Life Jonathan Stone. Mr. Stone applauds the student proctor role within the community. “As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than to watch students grow and develop as leaders, and then use these skills at Hun and in their lives after graduation.”
The Hun School of Princeton is an independent, coeducational, private day and boarding college preparatory school. Student-centered, hands-on learning prepares students for the global community in which they will live and work.
