MCT Tournament Winners, a State Champion, and a Thousand-Point Scorer Cap High Flying Season for Hun Winter Sports Teams
A first-ever Mercer County Tournament (MCT) title for the Hun girls swim team and an astonishing sixth consecutive MCT title for the boys’ ice hockey team. A state championship in foil for Hun fencer Anna Marie Heiser ’21 and a 1000-point milestone for Hun basketball player Jada Jones.
These were among the many accomplishments noted during Hun’s Winter Sports Banquet on February 27th. The highlights included:
The girls swim team won a Mercer County Tournament swim title for the first time ever on January 26th. Marie-Eve Hebert took first in the MCT 200-meter freestyle. The girls ended their season undefeated, while the boys team had just one loss.
The boys ice hockey team won an unprecedented sixth Mercer County title defeating Princeton High School 9-4 on February 15th. The team also won the Purple Puck Championship in Washington, D.C. in December.
Fencer Anna Marie Heiser ’21 won a Prep “A” State Championship in foil on February 13th. Hun saw six fencers fight their way into the state final round, and Rocco Mathews ’20 took second in men’s foil.
Jada Jones ’19 posted her 1000thpoint on January 16th in a 55-38 victory at Hightstown High School. She finished the season with 1178 points.
