Hun School of Princeton Freshman Charlotte Bednar is a Triple Threat, Taking MAPL, State, and Mercer County Cross Country Titles This Season

Hun School freshman Charlotte Bednar took the triple crown of high school cross country October 31, winning the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) women’s title, and adding that to her NJISAA Prep Championship and her Mercer County Championship.
At the MAPL championships at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Charlotte ran 18:10 on the course to best her nearest competitor by 56 seconds. The championship wrapped up an outstanding debut season for the student, who is the only girl on Hun’s varsity cross-country team.
Charlotte is currently rated number one among freshmen women in New Jersey, and has been invited to run in the NXR Nike Cross Regionals Northeast competition on November 24thin Wappingers Falls, New York. If Charlotte qualifies at the NXR Nike Cross Regionals, she could advance to the Nike Cross Nationals, a race of more than 200 of the best high school cross-country runners in the nation. That meet will be held December 1stin Portland, Oregon.

Charlotte has won every race she’s run this season for Hun, including the NJISAA Prep State Cross Country Championship, held at Blair Academy, on October 24th. Bednar finished that race in 17:53, a full minute and 16 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She also placed first in the Mercer County Cross Country Championship on October 19th at Washington Crossing State Park in Hopewell, N.J.

Charlotte is relatively new to running, having started two years ago while in seventh grade, though she plays basketball and lacrosse.

“She stands out because of her drive and talent,” says Hun Coach Stacy Collingham has said. “She was born to run.”
