Our students take every opportunity to use New York as their classroom.

Our Arts students routinely visit the museums and galleries in New York City to see firsthand the artwork they learn about in the classroom. And our girls’ a cappella group The Edgertones had the opportunity to perform as an opening act to The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall in 2017!

New York Metro Museum

Our NextTerm program used New York as a classroom for several different courses; A class studying immigration visited Ellis Island, a class studying women in politics visited Seneca Falls, and a class studying museums visited several in the city.

Students in a class called Holocaust Literature supplemented their classroom reading by visiting the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City.

  • Innovative academics: Skills-based learning is the cornerstone of every class at Hun. Rather than transferring information, our teachers focus on developing applicable skills, like creative problem-solving, communication, and collaboration. Boarding schools provide college preparation and college counseling programs to help students thrive in college and in life.
  • Cultural competency: Many boarding schools seek out diversity in their student body, and aim to develop students into active global citizens. At Hun, we provide immersion learning experiences, including a mini-mester, that take students into New York, around the country, or across the globe. In these courses, students explore real-world issues and potential solutions. On campus, we create cultural competency programming that prepares students to make a positive impact on their communities.
  • Balanced student life: At boarding school, challenging classes are paired with personal endeavors like athleticsclubs, and the arts to create a balanced equation. Part of The Hun School's mission is to inspire joyful and vigorous learning — we believe (and neuroscience research confirms) that students learn better when they're having fun.
  • Joyful community: Hun students are genuine and welcoming, and they treat each other like family. Each new student is assigned to one of four Raider houses to encourage camaraderie — with a small dose of competition to win the Hun Cup. Living at Hun immerses you in a thriving, diverse community.
