The Hun School’s spring sports teams had a home run of a season; multiple teams won MAPL titles, including varsity girls softball, varsity boys baseball, and members of both our track and field team and boys tennis team. 

Nora Shea ’22, a four year varsity softball player, notes that this season has been an experience that she will never forget. 

“Not only has the insane talent on this year’s team stood out, but the team chemistry and the friendship we all share makes this more than a team,” Nora said. “To me, it’s a family that I know will have my back whether it’s on the field, in the hallway, or anywhere in between. I have so much love for this team and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity for this to be my senior season. To walk away from my Hun softball career with a MAPL championship title and our 16-1 record is an incredible achievement. I’m beyond grateful for my teammates and their hard work and dedication that got us here. I know that the talent on this team will carry them far next year.”

This season, our varsity boys lacrosse team took home the Mercer County Tournament trophy. The team entered in as the number one seed and the team’s co-captain Tyler Jameson ’22 received the MCT George Abel Sportsmanship Award. 

Tyler attributes the team’s success to the chemistry that the group has built both on and off the field and he has enjoyed being the person on the team who helps steer the team in the right direction. 

“Winning the MCT title came with a lot of focus, discipline, and grit, which is what our main focus has been all season,” he said. “There are a large number of lowerclassmen on the team that have stepped up this season and have shown everyone that they can play with those values in mind. Hun lacrosse has a bright future ahead.”

Track and field had multiple team and personal achievements; Anthony Aririguzoh ’23, Dante Barone ’23, Olivia D’Aulerio ’22 and Eric Scully ’23 all won first place in their respective events. Olivia also took home Female Athlete of the Meet. Olivia notes that the start of her season wasn’t easy due to injuries and mental blocks but she is thrilled to receive such an honorable award. 

“I had a few tough times at the beginning of the season,” she said. “Competitions made me anxious and I had to push myself to show up mentally and physically every day for my team. Receiving this award goes to show how the perseverance, dedication and support from my coaches, parents and peers has helped me along the way. Without them, receiving this award would not be possible and earning this award was a great way to end my season and high school athletic career.” 

In the week ahead, we look forward to cheering on our varsity boys baseball team as they play for both a MCT and State Championship title, varsity softball as they begin states, varsity boys lacrosse as they enter the mid-atlantic prep championship, and crew as they head into the Stotesbury Regatta. 

The varsity boys golf team won the Mercer County Tournament earlier this season and placed 2nd overall at MAPLS.
