US Students in Painting Course

Here’s a place to get curious, get messy, and have fun making something all your own.

Students explore new ideas, experiment freely, and learn to see the world like artists—full of possibility, creativity, and bold thinking. Through hands-on projects and time to look, reflect, and imagine, they build confidence and joy in the creative process, leaving inspired to keep creating and with a genuine appreciation for the art they’ve discovered along the way.

In every class, students experiment, problem-solve, and discover creative ways to bring their thoughts and stories to life through art. From drawing and painting to design and critique, each experience helps students uncover their own artistic voice while learning to share and discuss ideas with others. The Visual Arts Department is a vibrant space for exploration, self-expression, and inspiration, where students are empowered to create boldly, think creatively, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the many ways art can connect, challenge, and inspire us.

It's really about coming up with an idea and going through the different iterations of the design until you feel like you've established the vision you had in the first place and feel good about it.

New Level Unlocked! Comic Fest Draws Biggest Crowd Yet

Everyone’s favorite community event is back! On Friday, April 17, Comic Fest returned, transforming Wilf Family Global Commons into a Comic-Con-inspired playground of art and fandom. Hosted by the Digital Arts and Animation Club and sponsored by the Library and Media Center, Residential Life, and the Cultural Competency Committee, students spent the evening showing off their cosplay, creating original artwork, and celebrating one another.

All Roads Lead to Hun: AP Drawing Students Create All-Community Mural

Inspired by the abstract, looping lines of artist Brice Marden’s signature series The Propitious Garden of Plane Image (2000 - 2006), students in Ms. Sankus’ AP Drawing class recently designed a mural representing the chosen paths Hun students take each day on campus. While AP Drawing students conceptualized the design, completing it became a campus-wide collaboration. Each Advisory contributed by painting one individual square, transforming the project into a shared effort and making the final piece one that belongs to the entire community.

Mr. Hildreth was my first introduction to art at Hun and the person who started it all for me. I was in his classroom constantly — before school, after school, whenever I had the chance. He was the catalyst for my art career.
