Arts at Hun

At Hun, we give imagination a place to flourish.

The arts are an essential part of a meaningful education. Every day, students discover new ways to express themselves and develop their creativity — whether they’re shaping clay on the wheel, performing on stage, or refining a piece on the violin.

Through artistic exploration, students gain more than technical skill. They build confidence, empathy, collaboration, and cultural understanding while learning to see themselves and the world in new ways. Supported by talented faculty and a vibrant creative community, students in our visual and performing arts programs are encouraged to experiment, grow, and take creative risks.

Among our largest academic and co-curricular offerings, the visual and performing arts provide opportunities for every kind of artist — from curious beginners to dedicated performers and aspiring professionals.

Janus Players Musical

Performing Arts

Whether you arrive at Hun with a violin under your arm or simply love the energy of backstage life, there’s a place for you in our performing arts program. Upper School students can dive into more than fifteen academic courses, including Theatre, Playwright and Production, Music Production, and American Pop, or spend time rehearsing with one of fifteen performance ensembles — from jazz bands and a cappella groups to the beloved Janus Players.

In Middle School, students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and make some joyful noise of their own through instrumental music, chorus, and theater. Whether they’re stepping into the spotlight for the first time or already dreaming of a standing ovation, students find creative outlets, lasting friendships, and plenty of opportunities to shine.

US Students Showcase Paintings

Visual Arts

Visual arts classes at Hun encourage students to see the world like artists — with curiosity, imagination, and a willingness to experiment. Along the way, students learn to solve problems creatively, take artistic risks, and develop meaningful outlets for self-expression. With more than twenty Upper School courses and four Middle School offerings, students can sketch, sculpt, paint, and design their way toward discovering a creative voice that’s entirely their own.

And because great art deserves to be seen, student work isn’t tucked away in a gallery corner. From hallways to classrooms to shared community spaces, art created by our students brings color, creativity, and inspiration to life all across campus.
