Retirement: Cheryl Beal, J.D., ’79

Cheryl Beal, J.D., ’79 has been a dedicated member of the Hun English Department for twenty-one years. A member of the Mercer County Holocaust and Genocide Commission, she developed Hun’s popular Holocaust literature course. In all of her courses, she helps her students make their arguments more succinct and improve their overall writing. Mrs. Beal is a collaborative teacher who freely shares her ideas, creative projects, and love of teaching with her colleagues. She has coached a number of Hun athletic teams, from junior varsity field hockey, girls’ basketball and tennis, and boys’ tennis to varsity softball and girls’ tennis.

Next year, Mrs. Beal will continue to teach the Holocaust literature seminar part-time, providing students with a transformational, empathetic understanding of the Holocaust. She is running a Holocaust and Genocide Studies Teacher's Education Conference at Mercer County Community College in the fall and plans to bike all over the state, hike with her dog, and write a book with her cousin Jocelyn Dorgan ’80. She and her husband are planning a move to Colorado to join their children Danielle ’13 and Matthew ’12.
