Vivian Piel, R.N., came to The Hun School in 2002 as an instructor in the Academic Learning Skills Program and became a full-time member of the Science Department faculty in 2011. She has served as a grade level dean, class advisor, coordinator of the Residential Coaching Program, club advisor, and assistant coach for varsity girls’ lacrosse and track and handled the Study Strategies and Senior Capstone programs. She has creatively engaged her students in nontraditional experiences, such as watching live open heart surgery, and has developed close and lasting relationships with many of them. An avid traveler, she loves to go on “adventure” vacations to places like Machu Picchu. Ms. Piel is looking forward to spending more time with family and friends in retirement, especially her grandchildren, and building a camper van with her husband for their long-awaited drive to Alaska.
