Kiera Hahn ’22: Proctor, Older Sister, and Friend to Hun Boarders

As Kiera Hahn ’22 looks back on her four years at The Hun School and in the Resident Life community, she recalls how nervous she was to live away from home for the first time – a feeling, she remembers, that only lasted a few minutes.

“I had so much fun I didn’t even have time to be homesick,” said Kiera. “It was the perfect start to a new beginning because we were doing so many different things and I just threw myself into everything.  I actually didn’t have time to think about missing my life back home because I was having so much fun here.”

Since that first day her freshman year, Kiera hasn’t stopped being an active member of the School as well as the Resident Life community. Along with being a proctor for the past two years, she is a peer leader, contributor for the Hun Review magazine, two-season athlete, and a member of the Red Shield Society.

“I loved being involved in the community and meeting new people but I was especially drawn to being a proctor,” Kiera said. “I grew up with four older sisters and I’ve always wanted to be a big sister and I feel like through my proctor role I was able to be an older sister to so many boarders. I loved helping new students move in and also helping them figure out what Hun is all about.”

Kiera explains that the moments she will miss the most are the ones that take place every evening after dinner: “This year it has been so important to me to come out of my room after dinner and go sit in Global Commons and do homework with friends and interact with teachers. That is definitely what I will miss the most. I didn’t realize how important the people here would become to me in such a short amount of time but I am really going to miss everyone so much.”

Next year, Kiera is headed to Lehigh University to study marketing and business. While she isn’t sure where that career path will take her, she hopes to one day work for a well-known fashion brand.
