John R. ’26 On Discovering New Interests In the Hun Middle School
Although John R. ’26 only recently joined the Hun Middle School as an eighth grader, he feels as though he has been a part of the community for years. Upon his arrival, John wasted no time getting to know his classmates through sports, clubs, extracurricular activities, and his favorite middle school experience, the Camp Bernie retreat.
“The Camp Bernie trip was a really great way for me to connect with new people and make new friends,” John said. “I feel like that trip really helped me become comfortable with my classmates and teachers and set me up for a successful year.”
John explains that in the Hun Middle School, the academics are just as fun and exciting as the social activities that the School hosts. He has especially enjoyed podcast club, Latin class, and his RadDay course “Branded: Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses”. John is excited to continue these newfound interests in the Upper School and notes that he may even start a podcast club.
“I love how my teachers want me to take part in after school activities and clubs and encourage me to try new things. I’ve been able to explore a lot of different things that I have really enjoyed,” John said.
A competitive baseball player, next year John is excited to join the Hun baseball program and experience the game he loves at a higher level.
“I would say I’m most excited to participate in baseball at a more competitive level and experience all of the different tournaments that the team gets to play in,” he said. “Academically, I’m excited to continue studying Latin and participate in NextTerm.”
