Esha Mogali ’22 Looks Toward a Future of Front Line Work

What started out as an independent research paper on dissociative identity disorder in Ms. Roux’s English class quickly turned into a passion and future career endeavor for Esha Mogali ’22. Between the STEM and Humanities courses she has taken at Hun and her two years of experience as an EMT and Cadet Captain at the Plainsboro Rescue Squad, Esha found her passion for saving lives and ultimately becoming a doctor.

Esha believes that if it wasn’t for her teachers at Hun, she wouldn’t have found her future career path so quickly: “I don’t think my teachers realized how much they helped me navigate my path. The way my teachers presented psychology, biology, and even chemistry to me was really compelling and all of the class projects and assignments piqued my interest even more.”

Next year, Esha will begin her journey to becoming a pediatric psychologist at The College of New Jersey. Esha has gained admission to the school’s highly competitive medical program, with only a five percent acceptance rate and guaranteed admission to Rutgers’ New Jersey Medical School.

“I applied to quite a few medical school programs but this one in particular is highly competitive and also an accelerated program so I will be a doctor in seven years instead of eight years,” Esha said. “Because I have guaranteed admission to medical school, I already know where I will be attending and that has taken a huge weight off of my shoulders because I won’t have to do another round of applications and go through that very stressful process.”

Esha notes that being a first responder is an important part of her life and she plans to continue being an EMT in the future; she plans to join TCNJ’s Rescue Squad as well as continuing to work with her current squad.

“You always see on TV the doctors saving lives, which they do, but the EMTs are the people who get there first to make sure that the doctor has a life to save,” she said. “I’m really passionate about being that person and also I’ve learned a lot about the field through my volunteer work and it’s definitely something that I want to continue to do for as long as I can.”

But that’s not all she plans to get involved in, Esha notes that music is a big part of her life and plans to join TCNJ’s a cappella group, she hopes to join a theater production, as well as focus on independent research and internships in the STEM field.
