A Few of her Favorite Things: Angelina Wang ’25 on Field Hockey, Flute, and Faculty

Angelina Wang ’25 enjoys a challenge. One of her favorite subjects in eighth grade has been geography. “It’s a really hard class,” she says. “Mrs. Nuse is hard but it comes from a good place because she wants you to really learn.”

Trying new things has been a hallmark of Angelina’s Hun career since she arrived in sixth grade. She began playing field hockey and now plays on a club travel team. She also added lacrosse and tennis to her repertoire, and though she played the flute in elementary school, it was the support of her teacher, Deborah Watts, that brought her playing to another level. “She is very supportive and it has made me more motivated.”

Jazz band is certainly something Angelina will be joining when she moves up to the Upper School this fall. She is also looking forward to the wide variety of classes, including a robust art curriculum, and getting more involved with the community service club, something she also did while a student in the Hun Middle School. “We made blankets and toys for shelter dogs,” she explains. Even better was dropping the items off at the local shelter: “It was so nice doing what you can do to help them.”

Her summer plans include three field hockey camps before she joins her brother, a current sophomore, in the Upper School. While some incoming ninth graders may be nervous about joining the ranks, Angelina is not concerned. “Expect the best of Hun. It’s a really accepting place where you’ll find your group and fit in."

Angelina was honored with the Band and Legacy awards at the June 8th Awards Assembly, as well as the Math prize at the Middle School Closing Ceremony.
