Kathy Quirk Retires

Kathyrn Quirk arrived at The Hun School in September of 1973. Upon her retirement, she will have spent forty-six years on campus as a teacher, coach, dorm parent, and associate athletic director. During that time, she has coached softball, basketball, field hockey, and cheerleading and taught physical education and health. As a coach, Mrs. Quirk has an impressive record, with eleven state championships and numerous MAPL championships. She was inducted into the School's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, was named Softball Coach of the Year by The Star-Ledger, and Coach of the Decade by The Princeton Packet. Colleagues and student-athletes describe Mrs. Quirk as wholly devoted to The Hun School, its teams, and her players. While competitive to her core, Mrs. Quirk admits to being further driven by having a positive impact on the lives of her players.

She and her husband, Athletic Director Bill Quirk, have always lived on campus and raised both sons, Bill '99 and Patrick '02, here. Retirement will not catch Mrs. Quirk sitting down, as she plans to spend her days taking care of her grandchildren. She will also remain a familiar face at The Hun School, since she will continue to live on campus with her husband and coach softball.
