Commencement 2019 Award Recipients

The following students were honored with Commencement Awards:

The John L. Kuschke Memorial Award was presented to Gillian Schadrack. This award is presented to the senior who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in academic or artistic extracurricular activities. 

The John R. Scott Memorial Award was presented to Jack Ruddy. This award is presented to the senior who, by proven excellence in athletics, sportsmanship, leadership, and School spirit, has contributed most to The Hun School. 

The Michelle Bonacci Marks '89 Memorial Award was presented to Leah Sutphen. This award is presented to the senior who, by proven excellence in athletics, sportsmanship, leadership, and School spirit, has contributed most to The Hun School. 

The Robert Strianese '70 Memorial Award was presented to Blane Soper. This award has been established in memory of Robert Strianese, president of the Class of 1970, to be presented to that member of the graduating class who, in the opinion of the faculty, has earned the respect of students and faculty alike for perseverance, leadership, and loyalty to The Hun School. 

The James A. McFadden '59 Memorial Award was presented to Devon Cowan. This award has been established in memory of Jimmy McFadden, Class of 1959, for his exemplary spirit of honor, true sportsmanship, and deep loyalty to his friends, family, and God. It is presented to that member of the graduating class who, in the opinion of the faculty, most clearly exemplifies those qualities. 

The Edwin "Jake" Jacobs Memorial Award was presented to Mary Catherine Shea. This award has been established in memory of Edwin "Jake" Jacobs, who gave forty-two years of his sixty-two years of life to The Hun School. It is given to a senior who has demonstrated the qualities of selflessness, friendliness, interest in others, and exceptional service to the School. 

The Katherine Wright Gorrie '98 Memorial Award was presented to Arturo Rodrigues. This award is presented to the member of the senior class who best exemplifies the qualities of Kate Gorrie, distinguished member of the Class of 1998. These include a love of family and friends, respect for the environment, joy and radiance of expression and demeanor, integrity, and sincere desire to acquire and impart knowledge. 

The Headmaster's Award was presented to Jada Jones, Matthew Kaye, Olivia McNulty, and Elijah Smarr. This award is given to the individuals in the senior class who exemplify the personal growth that results from taking full advantage of the opportunities offered by The Hun School. These students, through commitment to excellence in scholarship, exemplary participation in extracurricular activities, and service to the community, have brought honor to the School. 

The Faculty Prize was awarded to Myles Bostic. This award is presented to the senior who most exemplifies those characteristics of scholarship, integrity, reliability, leadership, and character we most desire in our students.
