Dr. Talboy and Ms. Skelly Take on New Roles in Hun Middle School

Congratulations to Dr. Talboy and Ms. Skelly for their new roles in the Hun Middle School. Dr. Talboy now serves as assistant head of Middle School and Ms. Skelly’s new role is director of student engagement.

Dr. Talboy is most excited about working to sustain the positive morale of faculty members and students in the Buck building. He notes that “in order to have joyful learning, we also need to have joyful teaching.” In his role, he will also be focusing on curriculum enrichment with an emphasis on incorporating elements of debate, speech, writing, community service, and Thinking Made Visible into all subjects. Dr. Talboy will also continue to teach Latin A and B, coach boys’ basketball, and be a club advisor to the speech and debate team and the culture shock club.

As director of student engagement, Ms. Skelly is excited to dedicate her time, energy, and brainpower into student events and improving community life in the Middle School. She notes, “we are a school that strives to nurture the whole student. Academics are important to us, but so is community engagement and creating a space where students feel a sense of belonging.” Ms. Skelly will work alongside Dr. Talboy to oversee student government, the Red Shield society, and other departments to find more ways to engage Middle School students. She explains it is a goal of hers to build on the relationship between Middle School and Upper School students. Ms. Skelly will continue to teach algebra 1 and pre-algebra 2, coach Middle School girls’ soccer and girls’ lacrosse, and be co-advisor to the Artcology club.
