Last year, Sunny P. ’22 and Arianna D. ’22 started a Doctors Without Borders chapter at The Hun School to partner with the official organization to raise awareness of the many health crises that exist around the world.

Club members have spent the past several months researching and learning about the medical needs of multiple countries in an attempt to support the people of those countries. For their first fundraiser of the school year, the club is raising awareness and money for the ongoing health crisis in Yemen.

“We decided to fundraise for Yemen because currently they are facing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis,” Sunny said. “The official Doctors Without Borders organization is working on a special project to get vaccines, therapeutics, ventilators, and medical assistance to Yemen and we thought it would make the most sense right now to raise awareness for this country.”

For the fundraiser, Arianna and Sunny created handmade bracelets that read “Believe in tomorrow” and are selling them to the Hun community for $3; they also designed shirts and sweatshirts to sell for $29.

Hun’s Doctors Without Borders club plans to continue fundraising throughout the year for other countries, participate in Zoom interviews with doctors from the official organization, as well as stay abreast of current events happening around the world related to the medical field.
