Residential Faculty

David Bush

is in his fourteenth year at The Hun School and second as a residential faculty member. He is the chair of the Fine Arts Department. Other than an obvious interest in art, Mr. Bush enjoys scuba diving, bird watching, surfing, duck hunting, mountain climbing, poetry, new foreign foods, opera, bluegrass music, medallions, coins, literature, swimming at the quarry, cave painting, salsa, worker’s rights, pre-Columbian ceremonial swords, stream walking, all-terrain bocce, furniture building, Puerto Rico, and making gazpacho.

Stacy Collingham

is in her eleventh year of teaching photography, painting, and drawing at The Hun School. She is a working artist and holds a master of fine arts degree from Tyler School of Art. She has taught at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Temple University, and Friends Select School. She and her husband Jim Simon live on campus. She is a voracious reader, professional tennis enthusiast, nimble-fingered knitter, and marathoner.

Geoff Evans

is in his eight year in the History Department. He is a native of Virginia and a graduate of the University of Virginia. He coaches the cross country team and boys’ crew, and enjoys hiking, camping, and cycling.

Cosimo Favaloro

joins the Upper School as a history teacher. He received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Hobart College and a M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Prior to The Hun School, Mr. Favoloro taught World History, US History, Ancient History, and Anthropology/Archaeology over a sixteen-year period at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA. He loves all things Italian and travels to Italy to visit family and for research. He is a big Red Sox and Bruins fan, a collector of nearly 100 vintage replica sports jerseys, and enjoys playing lacrosse and soccer.

MARIO FLORES

is in his second year as Director of Music at Hun. This year, he will be teaching Introduction to Music, AP Music Theory and will conduct the Chamber Academic Ensemble, Hun School Orchestra , Jazz Band, and Winter Musical pit orchestra. Mr. Flores holds a B.A. Honors from Brown University, an M.A. from Columbia University and was awarded a Fellowship to study and perform at Northwestern University's Graduate School of Music during the 2007 summer.

Bernard HP Gilroy

teaches honors physics, AP physics, and astrophysics at The Hun School. Hailing originally from Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Gilroy experienced undergraduate life in Washington, D.C. (Catholic University) and then graduate school in Palo Alto, CA (Stanford University), where he received a master’s in physics and a master’s in education. Besides being a resident faculty member in his ninth year, Mr. Gilroy also serves as advisor to the Student Council and moderator of several student groups, including the Hun Film Society, the Physics and Engineering Society, and the Science Fiction Society. In 2006 Mr. Gilroy was named as the first recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Endowed Chair.

LeRhonda Greats

is in her tenth year at The Hun School. She is chair of the Computer Science Department and this year will teach 8th and 9th grade computers as well as introduction to programming Visual Basic. She is a graduate of Cameron University, Lawton, OK and DeVry University, North Brunswick, NJ.

Angela Haberle

is in her second year of teaching science in the Upper School. She received a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She also worked there as a teaching assistant and environmental research associate for the chemistry department.

Bill Holup

has been teaching in our History Department for nine years, and coaches varsity girls’ Basketball and junior varsity baseball. He is a graduate of Wesley College.

CHRISTOPHER "RYAN" JOYCE

joins the Upper School as an English teacher and sponsor of the School’s forensic program. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Scranton where he was also a member of Sigma Tau Delta (the International English Honors Society), the American Forensic Association and the National Forensic Association. Prior to Hun, he served as the assistant director of the Speech and Debate Team at Stuyvesant High School in New York where his team won the Catholic Forensics League National Championship in 2006. He is a huge baseball fan and an avid theatergoer.

Tom Kelso

is originally from New Brunswick, NJ, and graduated from The Hun School in 2001. While at the School, he participated in three sports: football, lacrosse, and wrestling all four years. Mr. Kelso graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in December of 2005, where he received his baccalaureate degree in journalism and also received a business minor degree. While at Penn State, he served as a student manager in Joe Paterno’s football team for five seasons. He was the head student manager during the final two years, including the 2005 Big Ten championship season. Mr. Kelso is coming back for his third year at The Hun School as the assistant director of resident life; he will be coaching football in the fall and lacrosse during the spring, and teaching in the English Department.

Mark Kolman

is in his fifth year at The Hun School as a teacher in the Academic Learning Skills Program. This will be his third year as resident faculty member. Mr. Kolman received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee where he also earned All-American status as a member of the men’s swimming team. After working in the business world for ten years, he earned a master’s degree in special education from Arcadia University. He coaches swimming and water polo at the School. In his spare time Mr. Kolman enjoys music, swimming, reading, tennis, Conte’s Pizza, and debating current events with his wife.

Bill Long

has been at The Hun School for twenty two years; serving as dean of students for sixteen years and residential life director for five. Mr. Long teaches American government and psychology. He was also the varsity football coach from 1987-97.

Keri Marino

is a 1998 Hun School Graduate and is entering her third year teaching Spanish in the Middle School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish from Dickinson College and an Advanced Degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Malaga in Spain. Prior to teaching at The Hun School, she taught at St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont and English as a Second Language to adults in Spain. Ms. Marino is entering her third year in Carter, where she resides with her Yorkie Poo, Quino.

KELLI McMAHON

will be teaching two sections of American History and serve as the Associate Director of Resident Life. She is a recent graduate of Lafayette College with a B.A. in History, Government and Law. She was a member of Lafayette College’s Women’s Soccer team where she served as team captain in 2005. Kelli’s personal interests include soccer, running, music, and sporting events.

Jen Mitchell

is entering her fourteenth year at The Hun School and this is her first year as resident faculty. She has a bachelor of arts from Gettysburg College and teaches both Spanish and ESL. She has also worked for seven years with Dianne Somers in the American Culture and Language Institute program in the School’s summer programs.

Jim Nehlig

is in his nineteenth year at The Hun School and teaches health and coaches varsity wrestling, and Middle School lacrosse. His wife Ruth is a graduate of The Hun School, and she met Mr. Nehlig while working at our Summer Day Camp. They spend their summers and vacations in the Pocono Mountains, but while here, you will see them all over campus.

Bill Quirk

has been a member of the The Hun School faculty since 1980. He graduated from Penn State University and also holds a master’s degree in education from the College of New Jersey. Bill is the director of athletics and has been the assistant softball coach for the past twenty-six years. He lives on campus with his wife Kathy.

Kathy Quirk

has been at The Hun School since 1973. She is the Middle School health teacher as well as the associate athletic director. Mrs. Quirk holds a master’s degree in athletic administration from the College of New Jersey. She has been the head softball coach for the past 32 years and will return as the head varsity field hockey coach this fall. Mrs. Quirk is a member of the Hun School Athletic Hall of Fame and lives on campus with her husband Bill.

LAUREN RANKIN

has worked in the Advancement Office for four years. She is a graduate of Wellesley College. Lauren directs the girls’ a cappella group, the Edger Tones, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Princeton Girlchoir. She is learning Mandarin Chinese, very, very slowly.

JULIE SHULER-MISRA

is in her third year teaching marine science, forensic science, and freshman biology in the Upper School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Millersville University in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Illinois.

Jim Simon

is Poe Hall dorm head and content manager of the School website. He is in his eighth year at Hun and worked in the Residential Life Office for four years and coached track for three. He avidly pursues interests in music, photography, horticulture, and cooking. His favorite museum is the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore and he knows his way around both ends of a canoe. He also owns three guitars, four eight-track players, four turntables, and one tenor banjo. Mr. Simon also knows considerably more about duck hunting than Mr. Bush, but no longer hunts. He lives on campus with his wife, Stacy Collingham.

Carol Smith, R.N.

returns for her third year as director of nursing services and resides on campus. She received an R.N. from Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Camden and is certified in advanced life support for adults and children. She has more than twenty-five years experience in emergency, trauma, and critical care nursing. Ms. Smith loves to cook, play the guitar, sing, and go to charity walks.

Alison Stevenson

is in her sixth year at The Hun School. She lives with her husband Ken.

Ken Stevenson

is in his sixth year as director of residential life. Mr. Stevenson is a 1982 graduate of The Hun School and received his bachelor of arts degree in religious studies from Brown University. Mr. Stevenson brings an understanding of our School and of young people; a successful business background; and a strong desire to work with our faculty and students. Mr. Stevenson’s personal interests include the theater, athletics, and tutoring. For several years, Mr. Stevenson and his wife, Alison, were active foster parents, working with at-risk teenagers to provide a stable, nurturing environment while helping them through the challenging, complex process of learning how to live independently.

Jon Stone

joined the Hun faculty in 2000 as a teacher in the Mathematics Department, and is entering his second year as a member of the resident faculty. In addition to teaching, Mr. Stone is also the head boys’ varsity basketball coach and athletic liaison to the Office of College Counseling. He returns as a faculty representative on the Administrative Council and is entering his first year as the faculty representative to the Board of Trustees. He lives on campus with his wife, Jennifer (Pontani) Stone '93, and dog Gracie.

Richard Volz

is in his seventh year at The Hun School and is the English Department chair. He is a 1997 graduate of the School and received the Faculty Prize and the Edward J. Blounstein Distinguished Scholar Award. He is a graduate of Princeton University. He works at Hun’s Summer Program, and also coaches baseball.
