Discover Hun

Share a little, learn a lot!

Independent School admissions can be a surprisingly complex process. You are trying to get to know us, while at the same time we are trying to get to know you …

We will walk you through the logistics and do our best to make you feel at home. In the meantime, we invite you to be an active participant in the process. You deserve an honest insider’s view of life at The Hun School, so that at the end of this journey, you and your family are confident in your school selection.

We want our students to be successful. That means we need to begin to get to know one another, so that a mutual assessment of our potential for success can begin.  Here is our best advice for your success, because really … that’s the point isn’t it?

  1. Visit. Ask questions, even the one you feel shy about. Take a tour of our campus. See how it feels and whether or not you can see yourself here. Sit in one of our red Adirondack chairs, experience our joy and the dynamics of our community. Meet our students and teachers; the way they interact with one another is one of the more unique things about Hun.
  2. Don’t take our word for it. Look behind the curtain. We think The Hun School is amazing, but you should do your homework and find out for yourself! Talk to other Hun students. Look at our calendar and see what happens in a given week. Attend an event. Join us on social media and read what others have to say about their Hun experience.
  3. Teachers and coaches are people, too. Your teachers and coaches will be central to your experience. You shouldn’t choose any independent school without spending time with the people who truly shape it. Advanced degrees and experience are important – and you will find our academic expertise second to none. But, you know what’s even more important? Whether or not your teachers have a passion for their subject matter and have the ability to connect with you. We believe innovation is born from passion, creativity, and a culture that values it. Our teachers are energetic innovators that model life-long learning, which means their students will be, too.
Learning is about sharing – sharing ideas, hopes, experiences, and feelings.  At Hun, even the admission process is designed to encourage learning and inquiry.
