Janus Players Hoping to Hear from WWII Veterans

Dear Hun Alumni, Family and Friends,

The Janus Players are anxiously approaching the upcoming Winter Musical Production “South Pacific”. “South Pacific” represents the second show in our season about the American Dream. We opened our season with “Assassins”, a Stephen Sondheim musical that presented a very dark vision of the American Dream. We are now preparing “South Pacific” as an antidote to the dark ideas presented in “Assassins”. I was hoping to enlist your help in our efforts to preparing the show.

A priority of mine has been that our drama students, and the community in general, have as deep understanding of our material. As a part of that I am trying to gather stories from those who served in the Pacific during World War II. I am starting with my own family, my grandfathers, both of whom served. But the stories gain so much resonance when they are confirmed and then expanded by the stories of others. To that end, if you, or members of your family, served in any capacity in the Pacific during World War II, we are interested in your story. If you have photos, mementos, anecdotes or stories we would be honored to make them a part of our research and contextualization process.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any information, or for further information about our season and what our theatre programming is hoping to accomplish this year!

Sincerely,

Aaron Bogad
