Two Hun Middle School Latin Scholars Receive “Outstanding Achievement” on National Examination

Alexandra Coleman ’16 and Benjamin Musoke-Lubega ’16 received letters of commendation for their “Outstanding Achievement” during the 2012 National Latin Exam. The test was administered to over 148,000 students, from all 50 states and thirteen foreign countries during the week of March 12 – 16th. “Outstanding Achievement” awards are issued to students who scored 90% or higher on the Introduction to Latin examination, and places Alexandra and Benjamin among the highest achieving students of introductory Latin in the world.
Both Alexandra and Benjamin are first-year students of Latin language and culture, in The Hun School of Princeton’s eighth-grade Latin I class, taught by Head of Middle School Jeffrey Snow. This is the first year the course has been offered and the first time students have participated in the competition.
Mr. Snow said, “I’m extremely proud of all of our students. The amount of material needed to be covered, in order to compete in the National Latin Exam, is extensive. It’s also impressive that our eighth-grade students were competing with all students of Introduction to Latin, which includes students from high schools from around the world.”
